Crowned onion is a perennial herb that blooms from March to April. This species is found in water saturated soils in Joshua tree woodland and xerophytic saltbush scrub communities.
This is a California Native Plant Society List 4 Plant. It is considered rare, but found in sufficient numbers and distributed widely enough that the potential for extinction is low at this time.
