MTV Europe Music Awards
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The MTV Europe Music Awards were established in 1994 by MTV Europe to celebrate the most popular music videos in Europe. Originally beginning as an alternative to the American MTV Video Music Awards, the MTV Europe Music Awards is today a popular celebration of what MTV viewers consider the best in music. Unlike the VMAs, most of the awards are voted for by the viewers.
The MTV Europe Music Awards always changes its host city. Up until now Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom hosted the event twice. Germany hosted the event for a third time in 2007 with the awards held in Munich, November 1, 2007. Furthermore it was announced on October 31, 2007 that the 2008 MTV Europe Music Awards will be hosted in Liverpool, United Kingdom.
The awards are presented annually and broadcast live on MTV Europe, MTV and most of the international MTV channels as well as online.
To date, Eminem has won the most awards with 9 (including one with D12) in total. He is followed by Justin Timberlake (5), Muse (5), The Prodigy (5), Britney Spears (5), Linkin Park (4), Backstreet Boys (4), Madonna (4), Robbie Williams (4), Red Hot Chili Peppers (4), Coldplay (4), Spice Girls (3), Alicia Keys (3), Jennifer Lopez (3), Kane (3), Gorillaz (3), Oasis (3), Justice (3) and Dima Bilan (3).
