[edit] Time for a break!

I have stopped being a productive editor, in large part because I have allowed myself to be drawn into controversies like the ones going on here, here, here, and here. But as a parting observation, when an editor with botanical expertise is not permitted to add botanical information from the botanical literature to Wikipedia's botanical articles, let's just say it gets a wee bit frustrating. I'll be back, but for now I need to give myself some cooling-down time. MrDarwin (talk) 17:11, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

I've refrained from commenting on your talk page until now (although I've written at least one comment which I deleted without posting), because I was afraid I'd just inflame matters or prolong a discussion which should be allowed to die out. You are right that you have allowed yourself to be drawn into controversies. My own solution is to find other kinds of edits to work on. For example, I just discovered that the Flora of New Zealand is online, which I had not known. So far my main use of it was kind of a strange purpose (getting some basic facts for Bartlettina, a tropical American genus), but there is plenty of material to mine there. I've also been uploading some photos I took during a recent trip. My photos are in Stenocereus alamosensis and Opuntia rastrera, although I edited various cacti articles in the process of looking over what we have on the species that I took photos of.
