[edit] Grizzly Bear

To anyone who is considering the scramble route (SW), note that a grizzly bear has frequented Larch Valley for the past several years. Parks Canada monitors its activity closely and may occasionally close the trail if the bear has appeared overly aggressive. Other times, a "hike in six or more" rule is put into effect where each party must contain at least six members. Parks Canada has determined that anything less than six does not sufficiently discourage the grizzly. Don't try to sneak in with a smaller party when the rule is in effect because the trail is closely monitored by wardens and you may be cited. RedWolf 05:28, Apr 20, 2004 (UTC)
