Despite protests by parents, this school is slated for closure at the end of the 2007-2008 school year, because of 'declining enrolment figures', according to School District #5. All Sparwood elementary students will attend Frank J. Mitchell Elementary School as of September, 2008; FJMES is also being restructured as a K-Grade 6 school, with Grade 7 students attending the secondary school.

one student in grade 5 says "i came to this school in grade 4 andi don't want to leave because i came from fj the teachers AND kids are bullys" so you think of that before you demolish it.
