[edit] Geography

Mount Vernon is located 7 miles south of Mount Horeb and 18 miles southwest of Madison. It occupies land on the eastern edge of Wisconsin's Driftless Area, and is bordered on two sides by Donald Park, a 480-acre county park at the headwaters of the Sugar River. Mount Vernon is the middle of nowhere. Winter weather makes roads in Mount Vernon quite dangerous as they are windy and steep. Before coming to Mount Vernon keep your car in mind. There are also plenty of deer and cyotes in Mount Vernon too. It's a good place to hike.
