Morrisonville is an unincorporated community in Dane County, Wisconsin, United States approximately 18 miles (29 km) north of Madison. It is located in the town of Windsor. The Yahara River runs through the community.
Morrisonville is named after James Morrison, an immigrant from Scotland who settled in the area in 1843. In the 1860s, construction began on the the Madison to Portage Road, which soon became part of the Milwaukee Road railroad. With the coming of the railroad in 1871, a post office was established in Morrisonville that same year. The railroad, now part of the Soo Line still runs through the community, though passenger service ended in 1952.[1]
