One quote is circulated from the list below onto the motorsport portal every Wednesday.

If this has not been done, please:

  1. Copy the first entry from the list without its footnote.
  2. Paste it at the top of Portal:Motorsport/Quotes.
  3. Delete the last quote from Portal:Motorsport/Quotes.
  4. Move its corresponding entry to the end of the list here.

This ensures that all the quotes get circulated through on a regular basis. The top three quotes here will reflect what is displayed on the portal. When adding quotes to the portal, do not remove them from the list here – move them to the top to preserve their footnotes.

If you have a new motorsport quote, please add it directly to the top of the list with the details of your source in <ref></ref> tags. If you prefer, you can propose it in the Discussion section below; this is also useful if you have a quote but cannot remember the source and need someone else's help. Please make sure to include all the appropriate wikilinks in your quote and above all check that it is true and accurate.

  • "Second Place is just the first place loser" - Dale Earnhardt. I haven't found a solid reliable source, only some fair ones. Royalbroil 17:55, 30 June 2007 (UTC)
    • This is almost exactly the same as a well-known quotation by Ron Dennis.--Diniz (talk) 18:19, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
      • I have seen it attributed to Frank Williams. The question is who pinched it from whom! Adrian M. H. 19:12, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
        • This one has been going around in many sports for decades. It's certainly not F1-specific. Pyrope 16:40, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
  • Spotted a quote from Hemingway at User:Wadems#Favourite quotes, which might be worth including, but there is no reference. Adrian M. H. 17:10, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

  • Any opinion about Cranialcavity.net as a good source? Can it be trusted? I recognise some of those quotes from the motorsport press over the years, so I would give it the OK. Adrian M. H. 09:11, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
