[edit] Nuclear?

Mutations to mitochondrial DNA occur frequently, due to the lack of the error checking capability that nuclear DNA has.

Don't you mean, due to a lack of error checking that Mitochondrial DNA has? Nuclear DNA checks itself very well indeed. But it does not have anything to do with checking the Mitochondrial DNA. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Tourskin (talkcontribs) 19:55, 28 April 2007 (UTC).

[edit] Possible link between childhood vaccines and autism in children with mitochondrial disease

I just saw an MSNBC.com report covering this. While it shows that the vaccine did not cause her autism, it is believed to be related to her having a "mitochondrial disease," specific variety unreported. This shows that there may be a link between Autism and Mitochondrial Disease, possibly further understood in the near future. Someone may wish to follow this as information comes in from various studies and news reports. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23519029/ 74.67.17.22 (talk) 04:54, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
