All the photos on this page missed the keyword, which is ... mini. In order to show what so mini about these bikes, the photos should at least show something next to it for scale. Couple of the photos at the bottom have tiny folding chairs in the background. In comparison to the chairs, the bike just look like a regular size motorcycle. I'd suggest someone to replace these photos to include an adult size rider. Kowloonese 08:04, September 8, 2005 (UTC)

Hmm, I agree. But, I took the first picture, and I can't change it until i put an engine on it. :) --Phroziac (talk) 12:49, September 8, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] pocket bike

Is a pocket bike the same as a minibike? Maybe there are more than one kind of minibike?

A pocket bike is a type of minibike, but not exactly the same. They're generally the newer really tiny ones, with small two stroke engines. Some are good and cost $1000+ (USD), some are cheap and fall apart and cost $200. There's a huge size difference, compared to my minibike (top picture, "old style minibike"). --Phroziac(talk) 15:53, 12 November 2005 (UTC)
Pocket bikes, Super Pocket bikes, and Pit Bikes may have grown out of minibikes, but have their own definitions, which are not covered here, but all the possible pocket bike links are redirected here. I think there should be more information on these.Seasalt 12:46, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
Recent Merge Proposal - IIRC a minibike is off road while a pocket bike is a mini road race (eg MotoGP) bike, OK both article aren't the great examples of Wikipedia work but I'm not convinced of the need to merge unless someone is jumping up and down to do the work. I proposed the merger. The reason is that the pocketbike article is written in an unencyclopedic style, not wikified or properly formatted, and that this article says "A minibike, also known as a mini moto or pocketbike". If a pocketbike is indeed a type of minibike, how about making it a section of this article? Cleaning up the pocketbike article is enough work as it is. I don't think putting the content here would be any more work. --rimshotstalk 14:31, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Thumpstar

Is thumpstar a brand of pit bike or just another name for one? 210.49.203.65 07:59, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Cleaning-up the Pocketbike Article

Minibikes and pocketbikes are different. I have cleaned up the Pocketbike article. --Motorcycle Dude 02:56, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Proposed Re-write of Minibike Section

I suggest this entire section needs to be completely re-written!

Almost everything, from the definition(s), spelling (should be Mini-bike), and history is incomplete and inaccurate.

I have documented factual proof of the history of the Mini-bike that does not match what is mentioned in this Wiki.

Moreover, the history of these diminutive motorcycles is so interesting that much more detail needs to be brought forth--there is simply not enough information provided the reader; in fact, there are huge gaps missing in the time line altogether!

Readers should clearly be shown the difference between the old-school trail-bike, mini-bike, mini-cycle, cross-over, and enduros compared to the modern-day Pocket-bike or Mini-moto! Not to mention, the history should be factual! Then there are the questionable references to external links that need to be verified and updated.

It is not made clear in the article that mini-bikes are still in production and some models are indeed street-legal! Nor are any external resources provided the reader who may wish to purchase a new mini-bike.

Unless I here otherwise, I will re-write this section properly. I welcome your feedback, debates, discussions, etc.

FYI: Mini motorcycles used as pit-bikes do not date back to the early days of the mini-bike! In fact, it all started with the Trail-bike.

Go ahead and be bold by all means, as long as you have sources to cite, i'm not complaining. Pickle 02:46, 8 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Merging

Merging seems fine to do. Formula uno 21:33, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

OK wiht me as long as the raod racing (tarmac) type bikes are explained diffrently from off road bikes. Pickle 00:42, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
