Talk:Mineola, New York

[edit] Is it really in 2 towns?
text as of 2007-12-23
- It is the county seat of Nassau County[1]. Offices of many Nassau agencies are located both in the southern portion of the village and neighboring Garden City, New York.
- The Village of Mineola is in both the Town of Hempstead and the Town of North Hempstead.
Proposed change
- Mineola is the county seat of Nassau County[1]. Offices of many county agencies are located both in the southern portion of Mineola and in the neighboring village to the south, Garden City, New York. While Mineola is entirely within the Town of North Hempstead, Garden City is entirely within the Town of Hempstead. The county offices are often referred to as being in Mineola, regardless of where they are located with respect to the border line between the two towns. This has led some residents to mistakenly conclude that both villages straddle the border between the two towns.

Btw, the ToNH website does not claim any of Garden City, nor does the ToH website claim any of Mineola. Garden City Park is another matter (entirely in ToNH) - and probably part of the source of confusion.--JimWae (talk) 20:17, 23 December 2007 (UTC)
