Milan Jurčina (IPA: [ˈmɪlan jurˈt͡ʃɪna]) (born June 7, 1983 in Liptovský Mikuláš, Czechoslovakia now Slovakia) is a Slovak ice hockey defenceman currently with the Washington Capitals of the NHL. The 6-foot-4 Slovak was drafted by the Boston Bruins 241st overall in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft. After spending 3 seasons with the Halifax Mooseheads of the QMJHL, Jurčina began his AHL career with the Providence Bruins in 2003-04 season and was brought into the main Boston Bruins roster during the 2005-06 NHL Season.
On February 1, 2007, he was traded to the Washington Capitals for a conditional fourth-round draft pick in 2008.[1] Jurčina was re-signed to a two year deal by the Washington Capitals on July 27, 2007.[2]
