Mikko "Rujo" Rupponen (born March 21, 1978) is a Finnish mixed martial artist. He has also won the Finnish submission wrestling championships in 2001 and 2006, and the Finnish BJJ championships in 2001 and 2002[3].
Rupponen suffered a broken hand in his match against Rodney Faverus at World Free Fight Challenge 2 in September 2006. The fight was stopped and ruled in favor of Faverus, and Rupponen was sidelined for several months due to the injury.
In a fight at Fight Festival 21 in March 2007, Rupponen dismantled PRIDE veteran Hirotaka Yokoi in a one-sided affair. After a brief clinch, Rupponen secured a takedown and pounded Yokoi until the referee was forced to stop the contest under three minutes of the first round.

Next, Rupponen was scheduled to fight UFC veteran Steve Byrnes at Fight Festival 22 in September 2007, but Byrnes had to withdraw due to an ankle injury. His opponent was changed to another UFC veteran, Sean Salmon, and the weight class was changed to a catch weight of 88 kg (190 lb). To prepare for this match, Rupponen spent three weeks in the United States with Team Quest, training with the likes of Matt Lindland, Dan Henderson and Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou.[2]
Rupponen lost the fight against Salmon via a first round technical knockout.[6]
In the future, Rupponen plans to fight as a middleweight, under 84 kg (190 lb).[2]
