Michigan City High School is located in Michigan City, Indiana. At the end of the 2006 school year it held approximately 2000 students, in grades 9-12. The MCHS mascot is a Wolf (Wolves). The school resulted from the merger of Rogers High School (Raiders) and Elston High School (Red Devils). Michigan City High School sport teams compete yearly in the Duneland Athletic Conference. Tennis, soccer, and track are the most notable teams in the DAC.
The Associated Press reported in May 2008 that local police were investigating a shooting apparently directed at the home of Mark Francesconi, the principal of Michigan City High School. Nine bullets were found (six through windows and three in the building's brick facade), but no member of the Francesconi family was at home at the time of the shooting.[1] [2]
