Michelle Bert Santos (née Bauer) is a fictional character on the popular CBS daytime soap opera, Guiding Light. The character was originally named Bertha Ramsey Bauer at birth. She is the child of Dr. Ed Bauer and Dr. Claire Ramsey conceived through a one-night stand and would be adopted by Ed's wife Maureen Reardon Bauer (now deceased). Claire was a negligent parent and in 1986, she attempted to smother her daughter with a pillow. Ed and Maureen sued for custody of the child and won. Maureen loved Michelle unconditionally and Michelle was devastated when her mother (Maureen) died in a car accident after confronting Ed about his affair with Lillian Raines.Michelle had a biological uncle named Jimmy Ramsey(Claire's brother)(deceased).
Michelle was born on-screen on November 4, 1985 but her birthdate would be revised to 1980 when she turned nine in 1989 due to SORAS. The character has been played by five different actresses, most recently by Nancy St. Alban from October 2000 until her final appearance on November 22, 2005, when Michelle left town and moved to Louisiana with husband Danny Santos (Paul Anthony Stewart).
