Michael McCarthy

Michael McCarthy (born 15 November 1976) is an Irish politician and member of the 23rd Seanad Éireann for the Labour Party. He was also a member of the 22nd Seanad. He was elected on the Labour Panel on both occasions. He entered politics at the age of twenty-two by gaining a seat for the Labour Party on Cork County Council in the Skibbereen Electoral Area.

He is the Labour Party National Spokesperson on Marine, as well as being spokesperson in the Seanad on Agriculture and Food and Communications, Energy & Natural Resources.

McCarthy stood unsuccessfully as a Labour Party candidate for the Dáil constituency of Cork South West in the 2007 general election.
