Meherpur Sadar is located at 23.7750° N 88.6417° E . It has 49043 units of house hold and total area 374.1 km².

As of 1991 Bangladesh census^[1], Meherpur Sadar has a population of 262779. Males constitute are 51.2% of the population, and females 48.8%. This Upazila's eighteen up population is 140387. Meherpur Sadar has an average literacy rate of 24.9% (7+ years), and the national average of 32.4% literate. ^[2]
