[edit] MDHI?

Does MDHI actually produce the Defender? --Born2flie 20:55, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

Honestly, I don't know for certian either way. - BillCJ 22:07, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
However, as to a title, there isn't a simple alternative either, though Hughes/MD Defender might work. - BillCJ 22:57, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
You know me, always have to stir something up! ;) About the only thing I can find is that it is marketed as the MD-500 Defender on Airliners.net. --Born2flie 01:31, 2 May 2007 (UTC)
The reason why I used the title was that it was to cover all the Defenders up to the 530MG which is still in production. MilborneOne 11:14, 2 May 2007 (UTC)
Could this be one of those articles where we vary from the naming guideline? I'd rather see something like MD 500 Defender and not have to confuse the four different manufacturers or give preference to one. The reason I suggest that is the current title just seems awkward and I would never think to look for this article here with that name. Especially since MDHI is not heavily marketing this aircraft. --Born2flie 15:40, 2 May 2007 (UTC)
MD 500 Defender works for me, and is inline with "company designation/name" conventions. If it's OK with Milborne, we can go ahead and move it there, as that namespace is open. Also, is there any relation between the 530MG and the MELB? Would be interesting to find out. - 16:19, 2 May 2007 (UTC)
I have no problem with a rename. MilborneOne 17:58, 2 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Numbers

Is it true that there are so many Defenders in service ? Those numbers are kinda...huge. I mean Israel - 30 500 ?! Maybe there is an extra zero or something ?

  • Maybe you should re-read the entire line. It says "30 500MD". -Fnlayson (talk) 17:05, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
Perhaps putting "Model" in between the quantity and model number would help, as some do write "30,500" as "30 500" to avoid decimal point/comma confusion. It would at least remove the ambiguity. - BillCJ (talk) 17:44, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
  • Good point. MilborneOne just added an x between them. I added an 's' to each 500MD as well. -Fnlayson (talk) 17:56, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
Opps, I didnt see there isnt an interval. And we here write 30,500 like "30 500" so I got confused. :) Tangra680 (talk) 17:42, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
  • That format was a bit awkward and is better now. So all good. -Fnlayson (talk) 17:53, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
