[edit] Wikipedia high school policy
I don't know the wikipedia policy on high schools, although I recall reading one so I believe there must be one. That said, I wonder if this school is significant enough to be included. I can't answer that. However, if it is, then there are some problems with the article-- namely the second paragraph is either A) a direct copy from the school's website or B) written by a student from the prospective of a student. This is seen by the use of the word "our." I'm betting that it was copied from the website. Also, some of the article seems biased. --Jickler
- I couldn't find any Wikipedia policy on high schools, and I couldn't find the text here on the school web site. But I agree that some of it sounds more like a sales pitch than a factual, neutral description. (And I graduated from McLean High.) --Jwwalker 02:43, 5 November 2006 (UTC)

- The policy is: Wikipedia:Schools. Judging from that, it seems that McLean qualifies for an article. I don't know about it all, it seems as if it was copied from somewhere. There are probably several descriptions of McLean available for copy. After Abe Jeffers took over the website, it seems it has transformed into something new every month. Also, there are probably descriptions on the FCPS website as well. However, this is clearly not the point here. The point is that this article definetely needs to be redone before somebody smacks an AFD tag on it. --Jickler
[edit] Anyone attend this school?
IF you do, would it be possible to get a picture of the bomb shelter entrance? KeepOnTruckin Complain to me | my work here 23:04, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
As I recall it is actually a fallout shelter, not a true bomb shelter. There was (and may still be) a faded Trefoil sign to that effect on the wall of the courtyard outside the library. But I believe the entrance on that side was through the machinery spaces under the library so a photo of the door to the machinery spaces would be pretty boring. (Never did see the entrance that was suppose to be backstage of the theater) 65.242.48.16 16:18, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
A lot of schools have at least one entrance somewhere near the theater. Thats somewhat interesting. KeepOnTruckin Complain to me | my work here 04:25, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
The entrance through the theater was backstage. I can no longer speak to the the layout, but there were steel trapdoors in the property room. The fallout shelter was also accessible through crawlspaces underneath the band wing of the school. Mindwar23 02:21, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Rival Schools
Langley is the only real rival school that Mclean has. Leave the others off.
[edit] Unsourced info?
I think the article is well sourced, with three external citations, and a link to the website. If whoever (I'm not saying any names here) placed that info would take the time to review these links, they would find that nearly all the material in the article is verified in these few sources. If there is a particular bit of information in question, perhaps they might be so kind as to point it out?--Chopin-Ate-Liszt! 19:45, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Mcleanhslogo.jpg
Image:Mcleanhslogo.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
