Worms 4: Mayhem is a 3D artillery game, a form of strategy game[1], in the Worms series developed by Team17. It is much like its predecessor 3D, except that players can customize their worm's appearance (hats/helmets, glasses, facial hair, gloves/hands) as well as create their own unique weapons in an added feature called "The Weapon Factory". It also has a shop where users can buy various items, using points won by completing story missions, activities or unlocking trophies. Shop items include new maps, new accessories and attire, personality banks (voices) and game styles.

In Worms 4, There is a story mode and a tutorial mode that follows a group of student worms under the tutelage of Professor Wormwinkle. After causing havoc at the university, getting rid of various troublemakers, He gets the player to strategically sabotage the enemy by: destroying their new cafe, stopping the construction of a bypass by stealing the workers tools, destroying diggers and finally blowing up an under construction weapons factory. Wormwinkle then uses a time machine to escape with the player's team, ending up in the medieval times. Then of accomplishing some missions (5), professor Worminkle and his pals travels to the wild west. but the time machine needs fuel, so proffesor's team (the player) have to steal gold (the gold is the fuel of the machine) from Boggy the kid. When they're successful, Worminkle and his pals travel to the arabian age and need more fuel (jewels) and then they discover that there is a reward of many jewels on a jewel thief. Meanwhile the thief is in jail and the time machine is repaired, the player discovers Worminkle's secret by an fallling letter. but Worminkle knows the player discovers his secret and he leaved player's team on the the prehistoric age. Then of accomplishing some missions that include saving a team worm, the player has found worminkle in the mountain he crashed his machine in an accident, then they discover of Worminkle's betrayal to the player. Worminkle shows mercy and offers player's team to return to home but in that moment, Worminkle is betrayed by his team the same way Worminkle betrayed them and he is now alone in the prehistoric age.

  • Gamespot gave it a 6.7 (fair), believing it to be too similar to Worms 3D.[citation needed]
  • JTGAMES gave it 9/10, very good (best worms 3D interface yet)
