Max Fiedler

Max Fiedler (21 December 18591 December 1939) was a German conductor and composer. Fiedler was born in Zittau, Germany and studied in Leipzig and at the Hamburg Conservatory. In 1904 he was appointed conductor of the Hamburg Philharmonic Orchestra. In 1908 Fiedler left for the United States where he became music director of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. After this he returned to Germany, conducting in Essen until 1933. His compositions include a symphony, overture, piano quintet, string quartet, and piano pieces and songs. Fiedler died in Stockholm Sweden.
