"Calabar's" is a fictional restaurant and bar created by Matt Schnoor and based on "Old Burdick's" located in the Radisson Plaza Hotel in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and used in the fictional television sitcom, Calabar's. Although the appearance of the restaurant in the show is nothing like the actual restaurant, the executive producers wanted to use the exterior as the location of the restaurant.

Founder and CEO of Stephens and Bros. Inc., Timothy Stephens II opened the restaurant and put his son, Timothy Stephens III in charge. After Timothy Stephens II died in 1989, Timothy III became the CEO and put his son Timothy IV in charge. Timothy IV never had a son, so instead, he brought his nephew, Zack Hoover, in as an intern in 1992 and finally in 2001 when Timothy III retired, Timothy IV was promoted to CEO and Zack Hoover made the manager of the restaurant.

"Calabar's" restaurant was established in downtown Kalamazoo in 1982 as part of the reconstruction effort after the Kalamazoo tornado. It began as a small local pub, and after success, management decided to make a restaurant in the same building. Once the Radisson hotel was built, Calabar's was rebuilt and has then become even more of a success.

"Calabar's" is owned and operated by Tim Stephens IV, but managed by Zack Hoover. Including Tim and Zack, the restaurant has seventeen employees on the payroll. There are five waiters, five cooks, four bartenders, a hostess, and a manager.

Calabar's offers a range of food items, including American cuisine, "tex-mex", etc. The menu could be comparable to that of such restaurants as Applebee's or TGI Fridays.

With four bartenders working at different times of the day, the bar is open from 10am-2am seven days per week.
