[edit] Perfect SAT and ACT scores

The numbers on this page (14 and 1) don't match up with the numbers on the Paul Laurence Dunbar page (7 and 3). I don't know what the exact numbers are today, but there were at least 7 and 2 in my class and the class below mine combined ('03 and '04). -Jaardon 11:42, 20 September 2007 (UTC)

I originally put the stats into the very first version of this article (which only listed 7 SAT and no mention of ACT), they were from an old version of the MSTC website. This is the oldest one I can find, and it matches those stats. I think those numbers actually date back to at least 2002. It is probably safe to guess that it is up to at least 14 and 3 by now, but I suspect that no one has a truly accurate count. From personal knowledge, the class of 2000 was 1 and 0. [edit] Merge

I don't think that this article fufills notability requirements and is probably a vanity article, but I don't think it's unnotable either. So, I propose a merge with the main school page. --Mindtriggerz 03:26, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

Object - This article should be separate for several reasons:
  1. The school district, Fayette County Public Schools, acknowledges MSTC as a program independant of Dunbar HS. [1] MSTC has its own "School website," "school email," etc.
If considered as a school, which seems to be - at least partly - how the district considers it, an argument has been put forward that all schools are notable. If you do not accept that argument, I believe MSTC still reaches the level of notability. On average, about 4% of MSTC graduates earned perfect SAT scores, and about 16% are National Merit Finalists. All graduates complete a major research project, which is presented before peers and university professors and frequently leads to published work.
  1. As mentioned within the article, the MSTC director is at the same level within the school district as a HS principal, and so does not answer to the Dunbar principal.
  2. Although housed within Dunbar, MSTC has its own distinct facilities, including a computer lab, greenhouse, chemistry lab, and director's office.
