[edit] New article: current problems

This article is cobbled together from ten others. There are still chunks of text that need to be moved into different sections. There are also probably chunks of text that don't belong in this article, as well as topics that should be here that are not. Please be bold in editing this page. Haus 01:50, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Article naming

This article's name is a bit deceiving; it only concerns itself with one aspect of Maritime History, and that is the commercial aspect. There is about zero mention of anything relating to the US Navy. The section on World War II doesn't mention a single US Navy ship. It only talks about Liberty ships and convoys. This article either needs to be renamed to something akin to Commercial Maritime history of the United States or this page needs to be seriously reworked. Also, Given that there is already History of the United States Navy, we don't need to duplicate that material here. A page move is the best option. To fit the naming pattern of the naval article, I propose History of the United States Merchant Marine, given that's the scope of this page. I'll give it a week or so, and if there are no comments or objections, I'll move the page. Parsecboy (talk) 14:44, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
