I submitted my biography last week and it now says there is a copyright problem. Can you please explain? the preceding unsigned comment is by 128.83.86.45 (talk • contribs) 2005-06-09 15:26:07 (UTC)

When we see a new article that's word-for-word the same as an existing website, we assume it's plagiarized from that site and hence a copyright violation. I notice that the source ([1]) has a GFDL notice on it so I'll remove the copyvio notice. Writing an article about yourself is generally frowned on, though, see Wikipedia:Vanity page. Also, please capitalize article titles correctly when creating them. DopefishJustin (・∀・) 17:16, Jun 14, 2005 (UTC)

I think Marc is allowed to write the article about himself, as he is a minor celebrity. If Tom Petty submitted his own biography to the Wikpedia, would that be considered "vanity" ? Whotookthatguy 20:59, 6 June 2006 (UTC)
