Marivan (in Kurdish: Merîwan, in Persian: مریوان) is a city in west of Kurdistan Province of Iran. According to the 2006 census, its population is 91,664. [1].

The city of Marivan lies close to the border of Iran-Iraq (Iraqi Kurdistan). Lake Zarivar which has a length of 5 km and a maximum width of 1.6 km, lies west of Marivan. The lake's water is sparkingly fresh and has a maximum depth of 5 m.
The population of Marivan is of Kurdish ethnic group.
