Marcos Ayerza (born January 12, 1983 in Buenos Aires)is an Argentine rugby union footballer who plays loose-head prop for an English club, the Leicester Tigers. Marcos has been capped for Argentina in Rugby World Cup qualifying matches as well as against premier opposition such as Wales and the All Blacks. He is a roughly 6"1' and is a powerful player both with the ball in hand and at scrum time.
He joined Leicester in 2006, having previously played his rugby for Cardenal Newman in Buenos Aires. He has previously represented Argentina at the national under-21 level, playing at both the 2003 and 2004 under-21 World Championships. He went onto make his international debut for the full Argentina side in December of 2004 against the Springbgoks.
Leicester Tigers props Marcos Ayerza and Martin Castrogiovanni have signed three-year contract extensions with the Premiership champions. [1]
