[edit] English?
Was it written by English or not. First paragraph makes no sense unless one already knows the history of the song.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.165.188.30 (talk • contribs)

[edit] Cover versions do not get their own article
This is a long standing practice and I can give about a billion examples. There is no reason why this song or Westlife's version gets a special page. - eo (talk) 16:15, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Westlife
Westlife should not be such a prominent part of this page, as this is not an original Westlife song. A simple mention that it was re-recorded by them without all the cover art etc. should be fine as it is with all the multiple others who recorded it as well, I don't understand why this content keeps getting replaced. -- Dougie WII (talk) 16:33, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
- Well, I agree that the Westlife version takes up a lot of the page, but the resolution should be to do research about the original (and other version) and add it here, not to split the article. Either that, or place an "expand" tag in the first section so that someone else with the knowledge can flesh out the first half of the article. Don't you think? - eo (talk) 16:36, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
- No I don't, this appears just to be a copycat band, I don't see why it needs anything more than a simple note that they rerecorded the song. It is not their song. -- Dougie WII (talk) 16:39, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
- It is not THER song (i.e. they did not write it), however their version is notable. It's a UK number one single, it most definitely deserves an infobox and a small write up at the very least. The article really needs to be balanced out. The Manilow version needs its own infobox and an expansion. - eo (talk) 16:41, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
- Well, I wasn't the first person to remove that stuff, and I don't think it should be there as it seems like advertising but let's see if anyone else wants to discuss it. -- Dougie WII (talk) 16:46, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

- I propose restoration of Mandy (Westlife Version) or cut down to a simple mention within this article. There should have been consensus to merge back into this article. It was separated for a reason, that being this article is not about Westlife and should have nothing more than a mention of their cover version in the article, not the obscene infobox and navbox. If they should have it, then all covers should - and then how would that look. Even more obscene. ♫ Cricket02 (talk) 20:24, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

- The article is not about Westlife, the article is about the song, and the Westlife recording is part of the song's history. If their version was, say, an album track or a B-side that would be one thing, but the song was released as a single and hit number one in the UK, which makes their recording very notable. Why then would it not be entitled to an infobox at the very least? There are song articles with cover versions (sometimes more than one) all over Wikipedia, why would this song be treated differently? Note also that the "obscene" nav box is collapsible. - eo (talk) 20:32, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
