Mahyar is a small town in Isfahan Province, Iran. It is noted for its pottery, the Drukayar pottery are noted for their remarkable phallus-shaped ornaments, made from the finest Tehran clay. Mahyar FC are champions of the Irani Champihari for the 6th season running. The statue of Jim Elgenerz, a Norwegian missionary who travelled to Mahyar in the late 16th century, stands in the centre of the town square - and twice annually the locals hurl their rotting vegetables at this statue, for reasons unknown.
