The resort comprises three white sandy beaches: Majorca Beach, Magaluf Beach and Palma Nova Beach. These beaches are lined with small bars and souvenir shops backed by hotels. The largest tour companies include Thomas Cook and Thomson. The resort caters for both young parties as well as families, with peak season during July and August. Neighbouring Palma Nova is more popular with families.

There are many bars and nightclubs in Magaluf and many well-known DJs have played at the resort including DJ Sammy, Freemasons, Judge Jules and Tim Westwood. Night-life in Magaluf is centred around the Punta Ballena strip. You can purchase a Magaluf Club Pass for 12 Euros, this allows you entry for 5 of Magaluf's main clubs including Tokio Joe's, Legends and Banaas all located on the strip.

Besides bars and nightclubs, there are two water parks, a bungee rocket, go kart racing, horseback riding and various water sports including SCUBA, Jet skiing and wind surfing.

A popular challenge for tourists is a swim to Black Lizard Island (Isla de sa Porrassa) located in the centre of Magaluf Bay. The island is known by this name due to the very high number of black lizards that can be found scurrying away during one's climb. The island is situated right in the centre of Magaluf bay - the swim from the southern end of the beach (the longest route from the shore of the bay) is approximately 800 meters (2,625 ft).
