[edit] Spelling

The article's name uses Geni. The article's introduction uses Gen'i. The artcile's body uses Gen-i. Which is it? Douggers (talk) 01:15, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

Well, it's none of them, of course. His name is spelled 玄以. But, as an approximation of the Western (English) pronunciation, some write it as Gen'i or Gen-i in order to distinguish it from Ge'ni (i.e. it's げんい, not げに); some just don't bother and spell it as Geni. That's all. Different romanization preferences. Still, we should pick one and stick with it. As WP:MOS-JA says "Syllabic n ん is written n' when followed by a vowel or y but not when followed by another n", I guess the best answer is to go with Gen'i, and standardize the spelling throughout the article.
