A promotion video "Macross 25th Anniv.: Macross F (仮)" was released by Bandai Visual on its website on November 13, 2007[1].

A second teaser was released on early December in order to promote the upcoming December 23rd, Special Program[2].

The official website www.macrossf.com was opened on December 10, 2007 and MBS launched the production site on December as well.

[edit] Macross 25th Anniversary Special Program

A 50-minute Special Program (祝25周年!あのマクロスが帰ってくるぞSP!!) was broadcasted on MBS and TBS on December 23rd. It featured staff interviews, an introduction to the upcoming TV series, and the first episode.[3].

  • The overall design of the new S.M.S. VF-25 was inspired by that of the old U.N. Spacy VF-1 Valkyrie from the original Super Dimensional Fortress Macross series.
  • Other classic designs expected to appear in the upcoming series (according to the official site) are the Zentradi Quimeliquola "Quaedlunn-Rau" Female Power Armor & a variable S.M.S. VB-6 Köning "Monster" Destroid. All this mecha come from the original Super Dimensional Fortress Macross series.
  • The restaurant where Ranka Lee works at is called Nyan-Nyan. Coincidentally, the restaurant where Lynn Minmay works at before she became an idol, goes by the same name in the original Super Dimensional Fortress Macross.
  • The setting of the pilot episode's space battle (an asteroid belt near a Gas Gigant) is very similar to the classic battle at the Saturn rings from the original Super Dimensional Fortress Macross series.
  • In the final minutes of the pilot episode, Alto shoots at the enemy mecha to rescue Ranka while his appropriated Valkyrie is in Gerwalk mode, assuming the exact same pose (and camera angle) as the one Hikaru assumed when he first shot at an enemy, also using Gerwalk mode, to rescue Minmay in the original Super Dimensional Fortress Macross.
  • The ending song of the pilot episode, "Do you remember love?" was derived from the image song of Macross: Do You Remember Love?
  • The scene where the students (or stunt pilots, as their role in the concert appears to be) raise their hands to the sky in imitation of a fighter jet flying, is a clear reference to a similar scene in Macross Plus where Isamu Alva Dyson performs more or less the same routine. Whether this is simply the producers giving a nod to the Macross Plus mini-series, or an in-story homage to Dyson's actions that saved Earth from the Sharon Apple AI, is unknown.
  • Sheryl Nome's intro phrase "Listen to my song!!" or "Watashi no uta wo kike!!" in Japanese (私の唄を聴け!!) during the concert, is very similar to Basara Nekki's (Macross 7 protagonist) catch phrase "Ore no uta wo kike!!" (俺の唄を聴け!!) before he sings.
  • The N.U.N.S. VF-171 is based on the U.N. Spacy's VF-17 Nightmare from Macross 7.
  • The enemy alien bio mechas, which are called "Vajra"(バジュラ) in the official site, have several spiral markings like those that appeared in Macross Zero.
  • Singer Sheryl Nome shares the same last name of two of the main characters from Macross Zero

[edit] Removed Macross II related links... Changed to the correct Macross related ones

Macross II didn't occur in the MACROSS FRONTIER universe. The term Zentran was used in DYRL as an alternate name for the male Zentradis, while Meltran was also used to name the Meltrandi female alien warriors. The Marduk have nothing to do with the MACROSS FRONTIER continuity... Kronnang Dunn (talk) 20:25, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

Yes this is a quibbling point, but someone or some people have been using & as a shortcut to writing "and". It's just 2 more letters to type and this is supposed to be encyclopedic content. I accidentally marked it as a minor edit, but I updated the listed episode count from "13 scheduled" to 25. The latest news post on the official site links to information about the shows DVD/Blu-Ray release schedule, which is nine volumes - with one episode on the first and three on the following eight. [edit] The Official Name of the VF-25 has been published...

According to an article in the recently released June 2008 Issue of Kadokawa Shoten's Newtype magazine called "The Official Art of Macross Frontier", the official name of the VF-25 is "Messiah" (メサイア), a reference to the song "Shao Pai Long" from The Super Dimension Fortress Macross.

Johanne is not the name of Luca's variable fighter, but one of his 3 pet Ghost Drones (which appeared in episode 7, "First Attack").

Episode 4 states that Ranka was the only survivor of the attack on the 117th fleet, not "one of the few". Could someone confirm this and make the necessary adjustments? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.136.10.190 (talk) 16:44, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

Episode 5 clearly shows a number of individuals who are addressed as survivors of the 117th fleet (Ranka isn't present in the scene, though Ozma is). So presumeably the comment about Ranka being the sole survivor was either a writer error... or more likely a mistake on the part of whichever translator you used (assuming that you don't speak Japanese yourself) for the dialogue. --Junior612 (talk) 00:33, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Theme Songs/Soundtrack section

I think the recently retitled "Soundtrack" section could use some better organization. It seems the data can be better presented using more WP:STYLE friendly markup, or possibly a table. I have not seen the deculture edition, but the article as is seems to imply that the music for that edition is different from that of the first episode of the regular series run. Regardless, I think dividing it into two separate subcategories is unnessisary, the preview can just be treated as another episode. If the music is different, then perhaps this should be explicitly mentioned.

OK, on review, only one track was not redundant, so I squished it together. Fixed the formatting a bit too. I think it looks quite a bit better. -Verdatum (talk) 17:58, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
Hello, thank you for making it better and better. Since there're new releases coming, many of us have contributed within the short period of time... But with different people with different opinions, translations and styles (and I'm certain most of us aren't purposely vandalizing), can we try to make it more "uniform"? I mean, for example, take a look on other anime series like Gundam, it looks more "refined" and "uniform". What do you think? Thank you. (Howardchu (talk) 19:11, 4 June 2008 (UTC))

This article looks like it could use a large amount of cleanup, such as moving the characters to their own page, List of Macross Frontier characters, the songs in a proper table, the episodes moved to List of Macross Frontier episodes and a few other minor fixes. The first NUNS VF destroyed in episode 1 was a VF-171, which is a new version of the VF-17. Is NOT just a VF-17...

According to the official japanese site Howard Glass is not only the president of the Macross Frontier colony, he is in fact the president of the whole New United Nations Government and also the administrative director of the Macross Frontier fleet.
