Lower Carniola

Lower Carniola (Slovenian: Dolenjska; German: Unterkrain) is a traditional region of Slovenia. It is a part of the historical Habsburg crown land of Carniola (Slovenian: Kranjska; German: Krain) . The region of White Carniola is often considered a part of Lower Carniola. The traditional center of the region is Novo Mesto and other urban centers include Kočevje, Grosuplje, Krško, Trebnje, Črnomelj, Semič, and Metlika.
