[edit] History
Route 250 was commenced on 14 May 1988 and was operated by South London at Streatham Garage using Leyland Olympians (L-class). This only ran Monday to Saturdays.
By 6 January 1990, the route was transferred from Streatham Garage to Brixton Garage, using MCW Metrobuses. In July it was transferred to Thornton Heath Garage and they started a Sunday service, the 250 was also converted back to Leyland Olympians.
In 1996 South London was renamed Cowie South London, with yellow diagonal stripes added on the back of the buses. Two years later, Arriva bought out Cowie and the buses were repainted with a cream/white cow horn applied to the front of their buses.
In 1999 Arriva bought some DAF DB250/Alexander ALX400 low-floor double-deckers (DLA-class) to replace the Leyland Olympians on route 250. In 2001, the 250 was transferred back to Brixton Garage and was converted back to Leyland Olympian operation. By the end of 2001 the operation was transferred back to Thornton Heath, and the DAF DB250s were allocated to the 250 again. The 250's night service is run by Brixton Garage using low-floor double-deckers.
