Damned sexy piece of metal

[edit] huh?

How come it has two cockpits? NeoExelor 20:26, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

So that the pilot and co-pilot can both see in front of the craft - Jack (talk) 16:25, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

The second cockpit is for the trainer, this was the B model used for training--User:originalyoyo 08:03, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

Someone should make a note of that under the image.

[edit] Fake?

This image is... Kind of blatantly fake. You can literally see through the wings of the plane to the mountains below. Way to fail at photoshop, NASA. --70.251.190.150 02:52, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

If you mean those weird "scar" typed lines that are blueish, then NO. Those are also seen in another picture of the SR-71 article. I dunno what it is, possibly thrust vectors, ice, paint or something else. Xfa (talk) 13:39, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Not Fake

I believe the scars that you see are not the mountains through the wings. It is fuel leaking from the plane after refueling. The Blackbird was built so that the joints of the plane could expand and contract. As the plane heated up at supersonic speeds the joints tightened. When it was cool the plane's joints leaked.
