[edit] Zoo stuff

I created a page for Thomas Hailing Gillespie, which was a red link on the page. --Sharkface217 03:49, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

Wicked, cheers — Jack · talk · 03:52, Thursday, 3 January 2008

Re Edinburgh Zoo, I wish you good luck with the GAC. I didn't want to interfere in the process, but if I were reviewing it I'd want there to be more consistency in the capitalisation of species names. Unfortunately WP:MOS seems unable to agree what to do on this front. At Fauna of Scotland I decided to use:

  • lower case for aspecific names (mouse, dog, lion)
  • full capitals for species per Wikipedia:WikiProject Birds (St Kilda Field Mouse, Asiatic Lion)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Windows run.png

Thanks for uploading Image:Windows run.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 03:23, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Speedy deletion of Template:British zoos

A tag has been placed on Template:British zoos requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If the template is intended to be substituted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page indicating that it is substituted so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{transclusionless}}</noinclude>).

Thanks. --MZMcBride (talk) 02:40, 22 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Scaledcomposites.png

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Scaledcomposites.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Project FMF (talk) 14:57, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Serenity DVD cover.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Serenity DVD cover.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:21, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Your monobook.js/.css

They cannot be deleted, but the content can be removed. Would you like me to remove the content there? Malinaccier (talk) 00:56, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

Yes please, that'd be great :) — Jack (talk) 00:58, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
I removed the speedy deletion requests, and the pages are now empty. Because they are blank, nothing in them will affect your editing. Cheers :), Malinaccier (talk) 01:03, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
Malinaccier's wrong, they can be deleted. It's just that putting db-tags on them doesn't show up in CAT:CSD, so you have to ask an administrator yourself. However, blanking them has the same effect as deleting them, and is usually easier. Hope that helps! --ais523 16:50, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Your entry on WP:FACE

Hi Jrockley. I'm sending this message to every user who has an entry on Wikipedia's Facebook but whose picture is currently not visible for some reason. If you are interested in keeping your place on that page, then please restore the image or insert a new one into it. If you do not respond to this message within a week however, I will remove the entry. See Wikipedia talk:Facebook#Removal of empty spaces for more info. Cheers, Face 13:45, 26 April 2008 (UTC) PS: My name is a coincidence.
