Talk:Little River Canyon National Preserve
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Canyon Mouth Park, the camping area referred to at the end of the article was indeed damaged by floods, but it has not been abandoned. The NPS has fixed it up, but camping is not allowed, and there is no intention to allow camping when last I checked with the park about 6 months ago. I'm not interested in editing wiki pages, but I'll answer questions by those who might at my email addy (sharon_rogers@bellsouth.net) It was a great campsite back in the 80's, but we only used it for big groups. When camping with my father, we would hike into the canyon, up past the Eberhardt point trail and camp over night, then continue up to the falls, where my uncle would pick us up a couple of days later. This isn't allowed anymore by the park service, but I have been sorely tempted to do it solo with a low profile regardless, just for nostalgia's sake.68.219.175.115 20:18, 11 March 2007 (UTC)Franklin Jennings
The campground is no longer open for camping, but as mentioned above, it IS still open for picnics and swimming in the river. It seems very popular. I've edited the article to reflect that, and where camping is currently allowed. The original posting which indicated that the owners of the campground were inhospitable seemed motivated by personal feelings and didn't seem relevant to the article.Jo7hs2 21:33, 26 October 2007 (UTC)
