[edit] Things to do

The aim is to bring this article up to a similar standard to List of West Midlands railway stations, which should hopefully achieve Featured List status very soon. Heres a to-do list of what needs to be done - it will be updated as time goes on.

  • Change station names from all caps to plain text, eg RHYL ==> Rhyl. YesY done
  • Check spellings of both English and Welsh names.
  • Check missing Welsh names - where they are exactly the same as English spelling they can be left out.
  • Add opening dates for each station, and provide refs.
  • Provide footnotes for stations which have closed and reopened, and for stations which have changed name since opening, with refs.
  • Add footnotes to Vale of Glamorgan line stations which opened in 2005 to explain no usage stats for 04-05
  • populate operator column. YesY Done
  • Expand lead.
  • Add images - necessary for any WP:FL nomination later.
  • the list needs to be sorted in order A-Z - currently sorts by pax usage by default. YesY done

Thats it for now - please feel free to add to this list if there's anything major I've missed. --TicketMan - Talk - contribs 02:17, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Stations on preserved lines

Should stations on preserved lines be included on the list? A number of stations on the Talyllyn and Ffestiniog railways have inividual articles. Tivedshambo (talk) 13:25, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

I had thought of that, although if they are included I think they should be in a separate table, as different columns would be needed, for example usage stats and served by columns would be redundant, and closure/reopen dates would possibly be needed. Bearing that in mind, perhaps a separate article should be the way forward? --TicketMan - Talk - contribs 19:09, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] More things to consider

  • Expand the lead - at least two full paragraphs.
  • Station user stats - we're now 2008, can't you do better than 05-06?
  • Complete the wikilinks.
  • Go with WP:HEAD - "External Links" should be "External links"...
  • What in the heck is a unitary authority (I know....... explain for the benefit of others...!) - and provide context for the whole article (like, where's Wales?!).
It is not the job of this article to explain what a unitary authority is or where Wales is. Wikilinks shall be sufficient Welshleprechaun (talk) 00:52, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
  • If you're placing the Welsh in italics then make sure you do it consistently for the whole article. The Rambling Man (talk) 22:31, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
To answer to your second comment, the figures for 05/06 are the latest to have been released at present - see Office of Rail Regulation websiteTivedshambo (talk) 22:36, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
Slow down :-D
Currently working on populating new fields in table. Opening date and refs are going to be most dificult by the looks of it - Google is all but useless. Time to dust off some books methinks. Regarding the 06-07 stats, I have contacted the ORR to enquire when they are likely to be available - no reply as yet. --TicketMan - Talk - contribs 22:59, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
