[edit] Keep this article
- 1. Other kite pages would be swamped and made too long to include Kite books article.
- 2. A strong encyclopedia would include an article on the the founding craft for aviation and aeronautics as well as advances and significant applications for human culture benefits. The books are providing a drive for even further benefit to aviation, sports, engineering.
- 3. This article will become a rich resource to serve the Kites category in WP.
- 4. Annotations would be a plus for the article.

There's lots of book lists by subject, so no problem with this one. However, I've removed the lead paragraph as it was a bit rambly, obvious and unreferenced. Marasmusine (talk) 15:51, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
- How is "List of books about kites" more informative than "Kite books" ? Is there a WP policy on this matter? Thanks. 69.106.106.50 Joefaust (talk) 16:29, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Topic sectors with kite books
A development of this article is recommended. The non-fiction list will become long after editors bring forward a comprehensive list. Within the long list will be sub-lists or sections that are leveled or spcially focused. To serve the reader, some sectioning will become helpful.
- Sport stunters' books
- Manned-kiting (towed and free-flight kiting in hang gliding, paragliding, paravaning, water-ski kiting)
- Extreme sports kiting: kite landboarding, kitesurfing, snow kiting, kite buggying,
- Kite fishing
- KAP
- Scientific kiting collection
- Histories of kiting
- Books that specialize in giving detail plans on how to build kites
- Art books that have the kite in focus for its artistic appearance.
- Product owner manuals for significant kites
- Kite aerodynamics, physics, mathematics, engineering

[edit] The change to a simple list may have carved off an article that could still be.
Who buys, collects, reads, and uses kite books? Why are kite books written and read? Special issues and slant interests affect how a book list might display. Ideas?
Kite books are sought by hobbyists, sport kite fliers, kite pilots, kite operators, children, parents, engineers, scientists, authors, historians, kite buyers, kite club librarians, hang glider pilots, hang glider designers, fishing people, book collectors, kite designers, kite makers, kite manufacturers, decorators, artists, store owners, researchers, recreation professionals, and more. Kite books become collectors' items. People just arriving to a kite interest seek kite books. Librarians and book stores carry an inventory of kite books. Each year some new kite book will be found advertised. There are fiction and non-fiction kite books at various levels of reading and technicality. Kite plan books abound. Owner manuals for particular kites are part of the picture. Joefaust (talk) 15:05, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Alphabetize within sections by title or by author?
Is it appropriate to neglect "The" while alphabetizing the list by title? Joefaust (talk) 16:38, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Annotated?
