[edit] Merger proposal

digital pet and pet-raising simulation talk about a lot of the same stuff... i see two approaches... one is a merge... the other is to distinguish the two, with pet-raising simulations talking about PC and console games, while digital pets talk about other toys or research... either way, these articles are too close to just carry on the way things are going... comments? Well the two topics are definitely similar, but probably different enough to have their own articles. But as it stands right now, I would merge the "Pet-raising simulation" into "Digital pet". The simulation one is so short it doesn't really provide enough to distinguish itself from the digital one. However, if down the road the sim section gets too large, it can always be split back into its own separate article. My two cents. (Guyinblack25 talk 14:27, 18 March 2008 (UTC))
I agree with merging pet sim into digital pet. They both use Petz and Tamagotchi as poster children, further demonstrating their similarities. Moreover, pet simulation seems like a list without info justifies it to be distinct from digital pet. Digital pet could have a subsection for pet simulations it seems important. I think this article should be merged to digital pet, because pet-raising as a gameplay genre is exactly that. To qualify this, however, I want to note that pet-raising can also be a theme, such as in Pokemon (whose genre is actually RPG). However, the list of digital pet video games could be preserved, i.e. move this article to List of digital pet video games and then change the redirect to point back at digital pet. Then add a see also link to the digital pet article to point at the list. That's how I would do it, anyway. Ham Pastrami (talk) 08:43, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
  • done... this article is now a list and the more detailed information is now at the article on digital pets... Lifeisrill (talk) 04:27, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
