[edit] Removal of Link
Removed This link "http://www.progdevo.com/Tre-to-Val/ups_com.php List of UPS SLICs and Hubs" since it is simply a mirror of the wp page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.178.94.104 (talk) 04:59, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] WP:NOR - Collection of Links
First off, I don't want to seem like I am defending this article. It was originally part of the United Parcel Service article. I felt it was an eyesore, and after submitting a suggestion in the talk page, I moved the list to a separate article. I would have deleted it altogether, but it looked like several users put a lot of work into the completion and editing of the list.
That being said, I don't think this qualifies as "just a collection of external links." This is a list of UPS's domestic ground hubs, as well as some international air hubs. This is information of interest to people wishing to study package delivery system design, or maybe members of the business community who want to know where the nearest UPS hub to their location is.
Also, this is not original research. See the Talk:United Parcel Service#Hubs section for the discussion that went into its creation. Adamkik 04:31, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Deprod
I removed the prod on this. This content was part of the United Parcel Service page and I, like Adamkik, thought it needed to be removed from that article because it simply took up too much space. Having this on a separate article is not going to hurt anything but it sure will increase the readability of the main article. If someone really wants this deleted, it needs to go through AfD as I am contesting the prod. Shortfuse 14:51, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] So far so good.
There needs to be a little order here (alphabetically). Perhaps it should also be noted which are hubs and which are centers. Hubs have SLICs that end in 9, centers have a number progression with the last digit starting at 0 and progressing upward. The SLIC has the first three digits of the postal code plus the trailing number as I've just mentioned. Perhaps when I get some time, I'll clean that up.
This page is very relevant because this list is getting harder and harder to find. UPS, among other delivery systems, centralized their info so all we do is call a single number or go to the website. You just can't use directory assistance (online, phone or offline) to find this info.
I used to work at 5519.
[edit] Other Hubs
I currently work at the Aliso Viejo/ Laguna Hills (California) hub. The SLIC is 9269, but I don't know the HRS code since it can be classified as Laguna Hills or Aliso Viejo. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.219.141.228 (talk) 06:19, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
