Talk:List of Battle Royale weapons
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I added the (Manga) column. I'll change the entries from "unspecified" as I get to it. 203.59.196.53 15:21, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Kawada
I just checked; his Manga weapon is the SPAS-12, not the Novel's Remington. I am changing it accordingly. Luis Dantas 00:02, 19 March 2007 (UTC) Although someone seems to have corrected things for you, Kawada's shotgun in the manga is certainly not a SPAS-12 although it is in the movie. [edit] Girl #9, Yuko Sakaki
The novel and manga versions of her entry will need updating. According to her own article the poison was a "special bonus" and her supposedly main weapon would be a telescoping spring baton. Also, there seems to be some doubt about the exact variety of poison she gets - it is not always cyanide. Luis Dantas 00:28, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
- Update: in the movie it is indeed labeled KCN (Potassium cyanide). Luis Dantas 11:22, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Boy #17, Mitsuru Numai
The movie page claims that his weapon is a Colt .357. I will correct the article. Luis Dantas 16:27, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
- Update: it was correct already after all. Luis Dantas 16:36, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
- His factsheet at Vol. #7 of the manga claims that his weapon was a Walther P38. Strangely enough, the actual drawings in the manga clearly show it to be a Walther P99 instead. Luis Dantas 14:29, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Girl #17, Satomi Noda
The movie page claims that her weapon is a M870 shotgun but depicts a SPAS-12 instead. I haven't seen the movie so I can't confirm which is it. Luis Dantas 16:36, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
- Update: as noted below under "Lighthouse scene", Satomi never uses her own (unseen) weapon, but instead grabs Yuka's Micro Uzi. Luis Dantas 11:22, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Hirono's revolver
Which variety would it belong to in the manga? The current version of the article claims that it is a S&W .38 Special, yet Kazuo Kiriyama's article claims that the weapon Kazuo obtained from Oda (supposedly the same one previously taken from Hirono) is a Colt Python. Does anyone know with is it? Luis Dantas 19:34, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Girl #8, Kayoko
Her manga weapon is a revolver (as seen in Vol. 11, Chapters 80 and 81), does anyone know which model? Luis Dantas 13:39, 26 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Lighthouse scene
I just checked it; from the movie itself we don't actually ever learn which weapons (if any) #17 Satomi Noda and #19 Chisato Matsui ever got.
- 2 Yukie Utsumi has a revolver, probably the S&W .357
- 9 Yuko Sakaki has the poison labeled "KCN" (Potassium cyanide).
- 12 Haruka Tanizawa has a pistol, probably the Browning Hi-Power
- 16 Yuka Nakagawa has the Micro Uzi that is actually used by #17
The actual sequence of events is: #9 kills #16 unintentionally; #17 grabs #16's Micro Uzi and kills #19; #2 and #12 grab (their own) weapons and join against #17; #17 eventually kills #12 and fatally wounds #2; #2 kills #17; #2 dies from her wounds seconds later; #9 jumps from the lighthouse.
IMO the saddest episode of the whole movie. Luis Dantas 11:22, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Clarity needed!
This page has the potential to be quite an interesting resource, but at the moment I find it virtually unintelligible. The list "by type" is internally inconsistent, with some sections providing a simple weapon list and others providing more detailed student breakdowns - inclusion of the latter degree of information would be terrific if it could be arranged coherently and consistently. The second table ("by student") is somewhat better, bu the last column is completely indecipherable to me in spite of the fact that I've both read the novel and seen the film. I'd suggest either splitting it into three columns by media (if feasible), or at the very least providing a complete kill list for each individual medium. This may make the chart somewhat longer, but will do wonders for its readability. unless 12:34, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
Well I bulleted the non-list items so for now it's more readable than it previously was. As for the chart (because this was likely based on the one at battleroyalefilm.com), the last column "students killed", refers to who was killed by the listed student and in what medium, e.g. Oda killed Shimizu in both the novel and manga. The chart becomes confusing becomes it tries to encompass who received what weapon in all 3 mediums, who received the original owner's weapon in all 3 mediums, and who killed who in all 3 mediums, but is not specific as to how they were killed. If this article is strictly about the weapons, then the kill list could conceivably be left out. Or, as suggested, it could be broken up by medium to reduce the confusion, even though that's 3 large charts. --BrokenSphere 18:39, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Page references from the novel
- Shogo Kawada has a sawed-off Remington M31 according to page 136 of the Viz translation of the novel. I will make the adjustments. Luis Dantas 11:57, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Correction to M1911 P38 confusion
I found this line in here
"Curiously, the manga panel in with Mitsuko Souma kills Yoshimi Yahagi seems to depict a Walther P38 instead of a Colt M1911 although it is supposed to be the Colt (and is clear shown to be one in the surrounding panels)."
I went and had a look and although it resembles a P38 in that frame this is due to the slide of the colt being back as the gun fires and it's still the M1911.
For now I've removed that sentence entirely, if anyone wants to they could probably reinsert it with the slide explanation placed at the end but I think we're probably best without it AKLR (talk) 08:39, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
