This is a list of autological words, words which describe themselves.

- Autological words describe themselves, thus "autological" is autological.

- The word itself makes sense.

- In general, any heterological word prefixed with "non-" and their synonyms.

- Any word that has been created after the period without the "post-" prefix.
- tonic, stressed
- The phonetic meaning of both of these words express a basic feature of a word, that it is accented.
- polysyllabic, pentasyllabic
- Polysyllabic is autological because the word includes more than one syllable.
- cognitive, coherent, comprehensible, intelligible, understandable...
- This may depend on the way these words are expressed.
- prefixed, suffixed, circumfixed
- The prefix in "prefixed" is "pre-", the suffix in "suffixed" is "-ed" and the affixes in "circumfixed" are "circum-" and "-ed".

- "Derived" came from Old French, which came from Latin.
- neologistic
- At least currently neologistic is a neologism, even if a widely known one.
- finite
- The word finite is a finite word, it does not go on forever.
