Lincoln United F.C. is an English football team which plays in the Northern Premier League. It is based in Lincoln.
Lincoln United Football Club began life as Lincoln Amateurs in 1938, just one year before the outbreak of World War II, and were admitted to the Lincoln League.
In 1951, they signed a professional player from Nottingham Forest, which meant that they could no longer qualify as amateurs. After a brainstorming session between the players following an away match at Sleaford, they came up with the name Lincoln United.
