Technically, the tunnel still seems to be called the Limerick Tunnel. I'm sure a suitable politican's name will be applied to it, but shouldn't the article be called "Limerick Tunnel" until then?

It really should be chanced to limerick tunnel everyone I know is calling it that and it is its offical name sure even the website is http://www.limericktunnel.com/tunnel2.html

[edit] Move article and expand

This would be better moved to Limerick Southern Ring Road and expanded, as it doesn't deal just with the tunnel. It should also be a daughter article of N7 road - so a summary of the article should be in that page with this linked as the main article. zoney talk 10:52, 19 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] That Name

I know that consistency is the 'hobgoblin of small minds' but WHY is the Limerick Tunnel called the Shannon Tunnel in Irish in this article? (Sarah777 (talk) 02:08, 5 December 2007 (UTC))

Because we want to confuse the Jackeens. Well, Limerick Tunnel is the name it is going under at the moment, pending the probably inevitable move to rename it when it opens. But before construction started, especially when it was still in the planning stage, it was referred to as the Shannon Tunnel, and I see at least one website using the direct translation here. Can't find any other references to the tunnel as Tollán na Sionna in the first official, but then I can't find any references to it being officially referred to as Tollán Luimní either. I am tempted to hop out and check the boards on the construction site next time I am passing to see if there is an Irish version. FlowerpotmaN·(t) 04:22, 15 December 2007 (UTC)
So - will it be the Donagh O'Malley Tunnel or the Jim Kemmy Tunnel. I'd go with the latter if only because I ended up sitting beside him at a Bunratty banquet once and he was great crack!(Sarah777 (talk) 15:58, 15 December 2007 (UTC))
