[edit] Ancient Khmer sculpture
I have tried to do something with the article that you created to make it somewhat encyclopedic, but frankly, I cannot tell what to keep and what to discard.
My attempt would be something like this:
The legend of Vasuki is depicted in an ancient Khmer sculpted relief at Angkor Vat. The same myth was also depicted in sculptures of demons and gods, rendered fully in the round, each pulling upon the snake entwined in their arms.
Note that the legend is already told in the Vasuki article, so it does not need to be (nor should it be) repeated here.
Also, the prolific use of peacock terms makes the text unsuitable for an encyclopedic article.
Since you would be more familiar with the subject matter, it makes more sense for you to undertake the rewrite.
I will propose that the article be deleted for the reasons given above which gives you five days to complete the edit and address the concerns raised. Regards LittleOldMe (talk) 16:06, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
- At no time did I say that the information was incorrect, it is just not encyclopedic and it needs to be re-written.
- Also, by your own admission, it is a copyright violation which means that the article becomes a candidate for speedy deletion.
- The links that I left you in the welcome message will prove very helpful to you in the task of rewriting the article. Regards LittleOldMe (talk) 16:44, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Proposed deletion of Ancient Khmer sculpture
A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Ancient Khmer sculpture, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? LittleOldMe (talk) 16:18, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

Hi, the recent edit you made to Ancient Khmer sculpture has been reverted, as it appears to be unconstructive. Use the sandbox for testing; if you believe the edit was constructive, ensure that you provide an informative edit summary. You may also wish to read the introduction to editing. Thanks. - The warning above was issued when the creator of the article attempted to delete the article by blanking it. This is entirely appropriate and should not result in the author being warned and could be considered as biting a newcomer. Instead of the warning, instruction as to how to request its speedy deletion should have been offered. The author has subsequently created an AFD in order to have the article deleted. [edit] Possibly unfree Image:Female_Goddess.jpg
An image that you uploaded or altered, Image:Female_Goddess.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree images because its copyright status is disputed. If the image's copyright status cannot be verified, it may be deleted. You may find more information on the image description page. You are welcome to add comments to its entry at the discussion if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. Kelly hi! 05:23, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
- Hi, when an image is marked as having copyright problems, please do not simply upload another copy of the image, as you did with Image:Female Goddess 2.jpg. I'm concerned because at first you said this image came from a catalog and that you had permission to use it, now you are uploading the exact same image claiming to be the author yourself. Please read our policy on copyrights. Copyright infringement is considered a serious infraction and can lead to a block. If you have questions about copyright, please refer to our page for copyright questions. Kelly hi! 23:47, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Image:Giovanni Maria delle Piane.jpg
Stop adding the GFDL-self tag to the image. YOU DO NOT OWN THE COPYRIGHT TO THE IMAGE, so you are lying when you say you do by adding that tag. -Andrew c [talk] 20:36, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
- The {{pd-art}} tag should be sufficient, if the image is ever sourced (to prove the work is older than 100 years). Do you know who the artist is? Or if the image is from a museum? or any more information? -Andrew c [talk] 20:43, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

- I don't believe we can use Image:Female_Goddess.jpg here on wikipedia. First you claimed you got the image from a catalog, then you said that you received permission to use the image. Both of these are not valid reasons to include an image. I have posted more about the "permission" at Image talk:Female_Goddess.jpg. Arguments could be made that the work of art, being older than 100 years, can no longer be copyrighted, but we have to consider the amount of creativity involved in taking a the photo. The angle, lighting, and cropping are all unique and may be unique enough for the owner of the image to claim copyright. So to err on the side of caution, it may be best to delete the image to respect that copyright (thought getting more opinions of image experts may help in this case). Please allow the possible unfree image discussion to reach a conclusion. I don't believe there is any "tag" that can be added to the image now to solve all the problems.-Andrew c [talk] 21:02, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

- First of all, if you want to keep communicating with me on my talk page, I'm going to ask you to please stop "top posting". On wikipedia, the newest posts go at the bottom of a talk page. I have created a special heading just for your posts. If you want to reply to this, please go to the BOTTOM of my talk page, and use the area already provided for this conversation. Next, someone has already posted a "possibly unfree image" discussion for the goddess image. We have to wait for the conversation to end. Users can discuss if the image meets our guidelines or not there, and eventually an admin will come by and make the final decision about deleting the image or not. As I said on the image talk page, having the "permission" is not good enough on wikipedia. The image must be licensed freely by the copyright holder (and we have no way to verify the copyright holder gave permission in the first place).-Andrew c [talk] 21:16, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

Please stop posting the exact same message over and over to me, and please follow my advice that the newest posts go at the BOTTOM, not the top. I personally cannot do anything. There is a "possibly unfree image" discussion already underway. That discussion has to come to a conclusion through community consensus. Please make your case there, and wait to see how it ends.-Andrew c [talk] 21:29, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Speedy deletion of Image:Lord Harihara.jpg
A tag has been placed on Image:Lord Harihara.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. [edit] May 2008
Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed maintenance templates from Felice delle Piane. When removing maintenance templates, please be sure to either resolve the problem that the template refers to, or give a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, as your removal of this template has been reverted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Please do not remove maintenance templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Khmer sculpture, without resolving the problem that the template refers to, or giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your removal of this template does not appear constructive, and has been reverted. Thank you. BlueAzure (talk) 02:10, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Shiva 1.jpg
Thank you for uploading Image:Shiva 1.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. BlueAzure (talk) 02:11, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
