Leo Baeck College

Coordinates: 51°35′43″N 0°11′22″W / 51.59528, -0.18944 Leo Baeck College is a rabbinical college and centre for Jewish education located in north London. As well as being the smallest academic college in England, it is also the largest Jewish Progressive University and Rabbinic College in Europe.

Named in honour of Leo Baeck, the inspirational twentieth century German Liberal rabbi, the college was founded in 1956 as a rabbinical school for training Liberal and Reform rabbis. Until recently, Masorti students also studied there, but this arrangement has come to an end. Rabbinical ordinations from Leo Baeck are recognised worldwide by Reform, Masorti and Liberal congregations.

To date, Leo Baeck has trained over 150 rabbis, including also a majority of the small number of Masorti rabbis in the U.K.^[1]

In addition to the training of rabbis, Leo Baeck trains teachers, provides an educational consultancy, helps the development of community leaders, provides access to Jewish learning for all through interfaith work. It is a degree awarding institution, specialising in Hebrew and other Jewish related subjects. It is based at the Sternberg Centre, East End Road, in North London.
