[edit] Explanation of seating arrangement and speakership

The seating arrangement on the Legislature site was updated when Branch left the Liberal caucus by changing the colour but the House has not been in session and his seat has not been shown as being moved to the back row which is the intention when the House resumes. The independent on the government side will sit in the back row not on the far side of the second row; that seed is actually quite coveted and is reserved for former cabinet ministers, much like those seats in the front row of the Canadian House of Commons which aren't occupied by cabinet ministers.

In terms of the speakership, the position is vacant. Bev Harrison was speaker but he was appointed to cabinet. Lord has said that Huntjens is his nominee for speaker, however the speaker is elected by secret ballot so it would very much be crystal balling for us to presuppose that he would be elected. - Jord 03:45, 20 February 2006 (UTC)
