Leandro Damian Grimi (born February 9, 1985 in San Lorenzo, Santa Fe) is an Argentine football (soccer) defender. He was signed in January 2007 by Italian Serie A club A.C. Milan from Racing Club de Avellaneda [1]. He also owns an Italian passport.
He started playing football for Club Atlético Huracán, being then sold to Racing Club de Avellaneda in 2006 for 750,000€. Grimi, elected best young player of the 2006 Argentine Apertura tournament[1], was signed by AC Milan on January 2007 for a sum of €2mi.[2] His first match with the rossoneri was a friendly against Birkirkara FC, while in Malta on a training camp, but his official debut came in a Coppa Italia home match against Serie B team Arezzo, won 2-0. On April 18, 2007 he made his debut in Serie A against Ascoli, jumping in for the last 10 minutes.
He has been loaned out by AC Milan for the 2007-08 in order to gain some first team experience, with Siena taking him for the whole season. In January, 2008, was loaned to Sporting Clube de Portugal. [3]Ever since making his move to Sporting, he has made himself a regular in the first team and also helping Sporting to the Quarter-Finals in the UEFA Cup.
