The Las Vegas Stars are a professional basketball team which plays in the International Basketball League. The team plays at the Stations Sports Complex. The inaugural head coach was George Tarkanian, son of famed coach Jerry Tarkanian. The current head coach is Dan Savage.[1] The CEO/General Manager, Alexis Levi-Scott, became the first African American female owner in professional basketball when she purchased an expansion professional basketball franchise in the International Basketball League (IBL).[2]

  • Matthew Winans played and graduated in 2004 from BYU and started his pro career with a ten day contract with the Denver Nuggets and Boston Celtics in 2004. Before Allen Iverson’s trade in the middle of the 2007 NBA season, Matthew was close to a permanent contract and position with the Nuggets. His permanent Basketball contract resides in Rome

The son of Mary and Norman Winans, he is a second cousin of David "Pop" Winans, the patriarch of the musical Winans family. (Norman Winans is a cousin of Pop Winans.) He joined the Stars in March 2007. Current career high: 42 points, Phoenix vs. Las Vegas.
